About
Mineral Bear is a curated mineral specimen gallery and marketplace founded by a lifelong collector devoted to fluorite that meets the highest standards of aesthetics, color, and provenance.
Founder
Jason Adams
Collector. Curator. Student of the Earth.
Many a collector spends years in pursuit of mineral specimens that transcend the merely beautiful — pieces that carry provenance, locality significance, and a kind of arrested light that stops a room.
“Raised the bar for fluorspar forever.”
— Tucson Gem & Mineral Show, 2023
Our fastidious founder is one such collector who spent years -- and considerable resources -- curating his fluorite collection to a standard of excellence seldom achieved among even the most avid of rockhounds. His magnum opus, the "Tapestry of Color," a summation of world-class fluorites from every corner of the earth, captivated audiences with its debut at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show in 2023 and raised the bar for fluorspar forever. Since then, some of these fabulous objets d'art have found homes in museums and passed through the hands of the world's foremost dealers and collectors, from Wayne S. Thompson to Bill Larson, accumulating a lineage that is itself part of each specimen's story.
FLUORITE (ZONED!): DENTON MINE, HARRIS CREEK DIST., HARDIN COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
Mission
Goldilocks Standard
Not too common. Not too rare for the world to ever see. Just right — specimens of compelling architecture, color, and balance, shared with those who appreciate nature's finest art.
The aim of the Mineral Bear project is simple: to provide a source of minerals focused on beauty and aesthetics, no matter your budget.
“Beauty exists when there is detail at all levels.”
